Much of the story about Mary Magdalene, and how she ‘showed up’ in my life is written in the other papers on this site.  I’ll recap just the broad strokes. 

She came through in a very strong vision while my husband, David Tresemer, and I were in Israel in 1997.  I was feeling rather lost in the Christian story, and not very well represented by any of the major male players. We visited the site near the Sea of Galilee and the Valley of Doves where Magdalene’s family probably had a home.  It was eerily familiar and comforting to me.  I imagined myself as a 5-year old peasant, running through the Valley, just hoping for a glimpse of the “beautiful Mary” of 2000 years ago.  That night, sleeping at a local kibbutz,  I experienced something more like a visitation than a dream, where she came through and simply said, “Tell my story, and rebuild my temple”.

I awoke with a start, knowing it was Magdalene, and knowing I had just been given a directive.  I woke David up, and he very practically suggested we ‘get to work’!

Both of these directions may seem rather simple at first glance.  Neither of them has been!  Yet I find my life work continually revolves and resonates with them, whether I’m conscious about that or not.  Finding out another interpretation of her story was the beginning; and re-building the temple…well, that’s a work in progress for a cast of thousands!

I have dedicated my life, my work, and my creativity to the Remembrance of the Divine Feminine for over 35 years, and the unfolding path is rarely predictable.  With this direct alignment with Magdalene, I felt propelled to greater insights, research and manifestation, which took the focus of activity in unexpected directions.  The experience in Israel seeded what was to become a major theater production, called My Magdalene.  It led to more travels in France as David and I tracked her history and her mythic self.  It also led to the founding of a program called The Path of Ceremonial Arts for Women.

Now in its 5^th year, this work is extending to women in Israel as well as the US.  We find that women everywhere are searching for a depth of meaning and tradition.  I sense women have been seeking the taproot of their spirituality…a root which has its source deeper than the ‘religions of the Book’—whether that be Christian, Jewish or Muslim.  And, a root which need not deny the truths present in any of these, but which also honors that there is a profound wisdom of the Feminine, which existed before the patriarchal cycle.

Women have a unique way (and a destiny) to celebrate life, relationship, sacred time and sacred space.  I feel Magdalene knew this, and held the Sacred Feminine for Yeshua in a way that had to be present, in order for him to do his initiatic work.  And, she did it, knowing she would not be seen or acknowledged for 2000 years.  Her time has come.  The time of the Feminine has come, and Magdalene is re-emerging today as an extraordinary model for all women.  

She lives for me in the awareness that a cycle of rebalance is occurring, and that the work and service of her partnership with Yeshua can vitalize and nourish this time, now.  Their story, held as Sacred Union, can transform the interpretation of “take dominion over the earth”, to something more like “stewardship with all life”.   She is available now, because this is the time for Remembrance of Her, as a face of the Great Mother. 

Imagine for a moment, what would Christianity look like if it accepted that Yeshua had a partner?  A woman who saw Him, who nourished Him, and anointed Him—because it was her place as an initiate to do that.  As an initiate of Isis, of the Egyptian mysteries, she would know about anointing the King before his death.  Christ said at one anointing, “She anoints me for my burial…”.   He knew what she was doing, as did she.  The others were apparently clueless!   How might acceptance of their partnership change the modeling we so desperately need for relationships in the modern world? 

Magdalene is alive, and being remembered by many these days!  Her-story is being re-written, and as it is, so is His-story!  It may not show up as fact-proven history; but the mythic realm is changing, and as it does, that imprints differently in the Collective.  Thus, healing is happening because when a myth changes (which happens over time to all myths), the lives of people change.   We see women today finding they have a place of Feminine Power and realizing they don’t need to imitate Masculine Power in order to be successful and creative.  Partnerships lead us to Communion, and it will be in the deep resonance of communion (Masculine with Feminine; Spirit with Matter; Solar with Lunar; Light with Dark) that a hopeful, fruitful future will be born.

I sometimes picture Magdalene behind me, simply holding space.  Encouraging me to continue when I feel discouraged or small.  She relays a vision of her temple—which is not a building—but rather a state of consciousness.   It is woven together with threads of gold, connecting life to itself in a weaving of colors, sounds and smells.  It doesn’t rely on money to stay vital.  It is a temple of vitality itself, connected to the Source of life and richly awake to all the senses.  It is a temple tended by a whole community of Beings who know they are priest and priestess, in service to the God and Goddess of All.

She reminds me that the most important work is to be alive to the wisdom available in each moment.  And that when I am alive in this way, I am connected to all life;  I am connected to the Light that is Christ (a Sun Being); I am connected to the Life that is Mother; and I am capable of the True Work to which my life was dedicated from long ago:  Telling Her story, and Rebuilding Her Temple.
