Artist's Comments on The StarHouse
“Since 1989 The StarHouse has held twice monthly gatherings for Dances of Universal Peace. It has been a sacred vessel in which to deepen this practice of body prayer and the perfect setting for the marriage of Spirit and Nature. Dancers are enchanted by the walk through the trees leading to the candle-lit windows holding the circle. I cherish the moments of deep peace resonating in and through The StarHouse as the final notes of each dance reach into the silence and the holding power of sacred space.” Reverend Timothy Dobson

Dances of Universal Peace
The Dances were founded in the late 1960's in San Francisco by Samuel L. Lewis, with the purpose of promoting peace worldwide. They consist of simple movements and lyrics, ranging from meditative to celebratory in quality. Along with live music, they create an uplifting atmosphere and a sense of unity and community among the dancers. The mood of the dances is variable, evoking feelings of love, joy, compassion, ecstasy, peace, stillness, connectedness, and unity. Now shared by millions of people worldwide, the Dances of Universal Peace express a feeling deeper than language, deeper than nationality, and even personality.
