Fire Mitigation Makeover

All Seasons Chalice (ASC) ~ the nonprofit that stewards and operates The StarHouse ~ has been committed to fire mitigation for many years with direction and guidance from Wildfire Partners. Due to increased fire activity in Colorado, each year the recommendations and requirements become more stringent and expensive.

The StarHouse is vulnerable, due to its wood shingles. We have a recommendation to replace the wood shingles with fire proof cement siding/shingles. The estimate we received to do the job was $40,000. (the only structures that survived the Marshall fire where those with cement siding).

Fire mitigation projects completed in 2021-22, totaling $51,500:

• $25,000 - Strategic tree removal
• $6,500 - 36 inches of stone skirt around The StarHouse 
• $20,000 - Cement siding on the Retreat Cabin

Fire mitigation still needed totals $40,000 in expenses, the bulk of which is for re-siding The StarHouse itself.

Our 2022 Fire Mitigation Fundraising Goal is $91,500.
