The Goddesses of America

Join us in our exploration of the Sacred Feminine

  • Discover and explore the Goddess, Columbia, and her cultural significance.
  • Learn how to actively engage in communication with significant feminine Archetypes throughout the National Mall in D.C.
  • Bring your personal allies and spiritual awareness into the conversation with the unseen guiding forces of America
  • Create your own altar of the 4 directions to resonate with the National Mall.
  • Strengthen your awareness of what the Founders brought to the design and architecture of various monuments…and how to work with those patterns.

Few people realize that there clearly exist feminine archetypes ~ guiding lights that can help us balance the strong masculine energies that rule our nation, which can be physically located in the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Jacob Needleman beautifully writes: “We need to rediscover the deeper, mythic meaning of our heroes [and heroines!] of our nation.... Adults need mythic symbols just as much ~ or even more ~ than children. We need to remythologize the idea of America.” (Excerpt from The American Soul: Rediscovering the Wisdom of the Founders, Penguin/Random House 2003—Italics are mine!)

To remythologize America, we need to remember how to access the language of the archetypes. When one walks through the National Mall (clearly oriented to the four directions), the experience of engaging with archetypes carved in stone is sensational and significant ~ particularly discovering those of the Sacred Feminine.

The question now is, “What do we most effectively DO with that?!” In this course, each participant will discover that response for themselves.

The Goddesses of America

A seven-part online course, with Lila Tresemer, exploring the nation's meaning and language of the feminine goddess archetypes.

You are invited to participate in this online course where you will explore the nation's meaning and language of the feminine goddess archetypes and discover how this relates to you. Includes video recordings and content-rich handouts.

Session One

Connecting with the Energy of Archetypes

We create a template for understanding that resonance in our own physical nature is a crucial aspect of transforming energy in the outer world. We begin to connect with the idea and the energy of an archetype, personally and collectively.

Session Two

Meet the Goddess, Columbia

The four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) and the seven directions (North, East, South, West, Above, Below and Within) form a key universal template to understand how energy flows. We construct a simple model of the National Mall as an altar wherever we are, to focus the energy we’re working with. We begin to explore the four archetypes in the directions and meet the goddess, Columbia.

Session Three

Geometries & Altars

Working with a basic understanding of geometry and form, our personal and collective altar begins to come to life. We each discover the quality we bring to the transformational path. And we strengthen in our awareness of what the founders brought through the design and architecture of the various monuments.

Session Four

Exploring "Folk Soul"

We explore the idea of the “Folk Soul” ~ a unique blending of geography, history and intention for a nation. Some of the words that crafted our country are considered as sacred texts that galvanized independence. There was a strong Masonic influence in the design of the nation’s capitol and knowing something about that can be insightful. We weave this material into a meditation that begins to integrate it all.

Session Five

Geo-Mythology & Magdalene Energy

The principle of Geo-Mythology is explored, including how we can work with any place using these principles, and evolving further the work with the National Mall. Following threads of deep mythos, we can envision a connection of the Magdalene energy to the founding of this country. We bring all this into an active visualization process.

Session Six

Mystery of the Capitol Building

We enter a deeper connection to the esoteric mystery of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. As is true of many of the monuments in the Mall, this one reflects significant pattern and proportion. We integrate and refine the personal and community purpose of all the lessons so far.

Session Seven

Completion

Closure and completion occurs in these lessons, along with the opportunity to join ongoing calls with others who are dedicated to this work, as well as group journeys to Washington, D.C. together.

What participants are saying...

The Goddess of America has had a profound impact on my life and my work. Recovering this important archetype helps to restore some much-needed balance to the dominant, hyper-masculine stories America repeats to itself; remembering the feminine side of the story is healing for the nation's soul and spirit, and maps a pathway to partnership.
C. M. Maine

I attended Lila's DC trip in 2019, and she opened my eyes to the Goddess of America's meaning and presence; that trip energized my citizenship, and filled me with a sense of urgency and purpose. I would recommend this well-researched class to scholars, clergy, activists, and citizens who are concerned about the mytho-poetic identity (soul) of the United States.
Rev. Circe Moss MacDonald
Portland, Maine

“I had dismissed the nation’s capital as a hornet’s nest of negativities. I was then introduced to the spirit-foundations living in stones and geometry and trees, the true spirit underlying it all, that will over time guide this land to its destined service to the world. For this I am daily grateful, daily.”
